This isn't in Staffordshire, but it is only 20-30 minutes away in a car. This is the breathtaking Winnats Pass near Castleton in the Peak District from above.

Carved through ancient Carboniferous limestone, this dramatic gorge has been shaped over millions of years. The surrounding landscape also bears the marks of centuries of lead mining.

Castleton is also the only place in the world where Blue John, a rare semi-precious mineral famous for its purple, blue and yellow bands, is found.

Winnats Pass became the main road west from Castleton after the unstable route across Mam Tor was abandoned in 1977.
