At its heart stands the Fenton War Memorial, raised in 1922 through the contributions of the community and rising more than thirty feet, a lasting tribute paid for by the townspeople themselves. Beside it sits Christ Church, built in 1890 to the design of the architect Charles Lynam, with room for as many as 1,900 parishioners, and completed by the addition of its tower in 1899. Together they capture the civic and spiritual heart of Fenton, the town often affectionately called the Forgotten Town of the Six Towns.
